Federal Retail Pharmacy Partnership Program for COVID-19 Vaccination
The Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 Vaccination is a collaboration between the State of Michigan, federal government, and local pharmacy partners to increase access to COVID-19 vaccination. Vaccines distributed through pharmacies augments the current distribution efforts and does not have an impact on current Michigan allocations.
Michigan’s current pharmacy partners – Meijer, Rite Aid, and Cardinal Health (a network of independent pharmacies which includes Snyders Pharmacy locations in the Upper Peninsula) have begun to vaccinate individuals who are eligible within the current vaccination priorities. The program is being piloted to advance the rate of vaccine administration across the state.
What can patients expect when vaccinated at a pharmacy?
| ✅ |
Individuals vaccinated at a pharmacy will be asked about their age, occupation, and underlying medical conditions. |
| ✅ |
Individuals will be asked to self-attest to validate group membership.
|
| ❌ |
Individuals will not be asked for proof of age, occupation, or any other type of credentials. This assures that no one will be turned away for lack of identification documents (e.g. driver’s licenses or proof of residency) and eases the burden on participating pharmacies and individuals.
|
| ❌ |
Individuals will not be asked to pay to be vaccinated, however insurance will be billed for administrative fees, if insured. |
