CDC Provides Recommendation on Expired PPE

CDC encourages PHEP recipients and their local health departments to maintain any stockpiles of expired personal protective equipment (PPE) that is past its intended shelf life until further guidance can be provided. CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is working with both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to determine additional guidance on using expired PPE past its intended shelf life.


BP1 SNS/MCM Webinar Series

The MCM/SNS team will conduct MCM-themed webinars for the remainder of the current budget period. These webinars will be approached with the new emergency preparedness coordinator/planner in mind, offering an overview of plan structure with some in-depth discussion on select functions. Dates/times and subject matter are as follows:

  • Wednesday, March 11, 2020 (2:00 – 3:30 PM ET) – SNS/MCM Requesting Process (Initial and Ongoing)
  • Tuesday, April 14, 2020 (2:00 – 3:30 PM ET) – Inventory Management (IMATS and MCIR)
  • Thursday, May 21, 2020 (10:00 – 11:30 AM ET) – Point of Dispensing Planning
  • June 2020, TBD – Distribution Functions

Call for Focus Group Participants

NACCHO is seeking local health department members to participate in a focus group during the 2020 Preparedness Summit. The focus group will explore LHDs’ experiences putting expedited mechanisms in place to address administrative preparedness activities when an emergency is declared. Interested LHDs should RSVP to Sarah Leonard no later than March 20, 2020.
