Reminder: Mid-Year Progress Report Due

LHD Mid-year progress reports must be submitted via Survey Monkey by January 31, 2020. A PDF of the survey tool is attached, but should be used for reference only. Send any after action reports and any other documentation to MDHHS-BETP-DEPR-PHEP@michigan.gov and copy your regional point of contact.

 

Tribal health partners should complete this mid-year progress report form and submit it to the PHEP mailbox at MDHHS-BETP-DEPR-PHEP@michigan.gov by January 31, 2020. Be sure to submit after action reports and any other documents requested in the reporting tool.  For questions, contact Mary Macqueen.


Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for PHEP Budget Period 2

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released the PHEP NOFO for BP 2. The BP 2 guidance references sections from the 5-year cooperative agreement guidance issued in 2019. The NOFO for BP 2 is being shared for informational purposes only.


Muskegon County Emergency Management Hosts National Tornado Awareness Course

Muskegon County Emergency Management will host the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center Course AWR-326 Tornado Awareness on March 2, 2020, at Muskegon Community College. See the attached flyer for more information. Registration is through MI-TRAIN (Course ID 1056574).


LTBB to Host E/L0581 Emergency Operations for Tribal Governments Course

Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians (LTBB) was selected by FEMA to host E/L0581 Emergency Operations for Tribal Governments. This course is scheduled for May 19-22, 2020. Ovation Hall at Odawa Casino and Resort will be the host site for this training. The purpose of this course is to assist tribal officials to develop organizational structures, operational procedures, and resources for effective emergency operations. This course is limited to 30 participants. For more information see the flyer

 

The L0581 is the second course in the five-course tribal curriculum. The LO580 is a required pre-requisite and must be completed prior to taking the LO581 course.


ASPR-TRACIE Webinar: Healthcare Challenges in Chemical Incidents, Now Available

Access this archived webinar where speakers discussed the potential effects of a chemical incident and shared recent guidance and lessons learned in assessing, triaging, and treating patients, including considerations for novel nerve agent treatment. Issue 9 of The Exchange also features many of these speakers sharing their experiences.


Family Reunification Planning Resource

The American Academy of Pediatrics in collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital and the Centers for Disaster Medicine has published Family Reunification Following Disasters: A Planning Tool for Healthcare Facilities. This planning tool is designed to aid local health departments, hospitals and other partners as they analyze, develop and revise plans to supply information, support services, and reunification assistance to family members of patients who present to the hospital following a disaster. Not all sections of the tool will be applicable to all entities. Please share this document with your partners.
