Healthcare and Public Health Sector Council Publishes Guidance on Supply Chain Cybersecurity Risk Management

The Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council (HSCC) recently published a toolkit for small to mid-sized healthcare institutions to better ensure the security of the products and services they procure through an enterprise supply chain cybersecurity risk management program.  The “Health Industry Cybersecurity Supplier Risk Management (HIC-SCRiM)” toolkit is intended to provide actionable guidance and practical tools to help organizations of limited scale or resources manage the cybersecurity risks they face through their dependencies within the health system supply chain.

While the guide is primarily written for small and medium sized organizations, the it also makes a call to action for large healthcare organizations, associations and consultancies to raise awareness and encourage adoption across the sector. To access and download a copy of the HIC-SCRiM, go to: Health Sector Council Cybersecurity.

NIOSH Online Training for Emergency Responders

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) developed a free online training for emergency responders titled, “Reducing Risks Associated with Long Work Hours.” This self-guided, 30-minute training program was developed for emergency workers who deploy to work at disaster sites caused by weather, earthquakes, epidemics, and other catastrophic events. This training provides strategies to reduce risks from fatigue due to the need to work long day shifts during the emergency response and recovery operations. The intended audience for this training is emergency responders who may need to work longer than normal day shifts and their managers.
