CDC Releases PHEP Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)

CDC released the NOFO for the next 5-year PHEP Cooperative Agreement Funding Period (2019-2024). Awardee states must submit their applications no later than May 3, 2019. A link to the NOFO is below.

ICS-300 and ICS-400 Courses Coming to BETP

BETP will offer ICS-300 and ICS-400 courses at our facility at 1001 Terminal Road in the Joint Activity Room (JAR) on the dates listed below. The deadline for registration is March 8, 2019. Everyone must register for these courses using MI-TRAIN and the course ID’s as referenced in the attached instructions. These sessions are limited to 24 attendees, you need only attend 1 session of each course. These are multiple day courses and attendance at all sessions is required for certification.

Local Health and Tribal Emergency Preparedness Partnership Meeting

The annual meeting with EPCs and tribal health partners will take place on May 5 – 6, 2019. The meeting will take place at the Kent County Health Department (700 Fuller Ave, NE) in Grand Rapids. Parking is free. A dedicated website is now available for your attendees to book their hotel rooms online. Reservations can be made starting Feb 13, 2019. The room block will close on April 5, 2019. Note the room rate is $126.00 per night (Self‐Pay). Parking is $29.00 per day. Here is the Save the Date flyer.

 

If you plan to attend the Great Lakes Homeland Security Conference use the link provided in MI-TRAIN when your register for the conference to secure your lodging. Quarter 3 Deliverables

BP1-17 MISNS SharePoint Request Site Drill – March 20, 2019
The exercise plan for the annual MISNS SharePoint request site drill scheduled for March 20, 2019, is linked below. LHDs are encouraged to modify and expand upon the exercise plan to meet specific jurisdictional exercise objectives and goals. Furthermore, Appendix B: Operational LHD Objectives provides suggestions on objectives that could be included in the exercise.

 

As in previous years, this drill will test local-to-state SNS request procedures utilizing the MISNS SharePoint request site. On March 20, the exercise will begin with a MIHAN alert to the LHD EPC and Health Officer groups indicating that the CHECC will begin accepting "ongoing" SNS requests. Participants will be able to submit requests any time between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM EST through the MISNS SharePoint request site at http://mirequest.org/SNS.

Hazard Vulnerability Assessment – due March 29, 2019
The CDC requires state and local health departments to maintain current hazard vulnerability assessment data. In BP1-SUPP, local health departments were asked to complete and submit the ASPR-developed HVA tool no later than Friday, March 29, 2019. Refer to the following documents:

Send completed modules (THAM, RIST-V, and RIST-C) for LHD primary public health facility via email to mdhhs-betp-depr-phep@michigan.gov, copying smithj20@michigan.gov.Once complete, use the suggested naming convention: LHD Name_Nameofrisktool (e.g., LHD Name_THAM, LHD Name_RIST-V, LHD Name_RIST-C, etc.) Submitted data will be used by BETP to test multi-viewer utility for statewide analysis of public health infrastructure.


Online Technical Resource and Assistance Center (On-TRAC)

CDC developed the Online Technical Resource and Assistance Center (On-TRAC) to provide health departments with a secure, user-friendly platform for requesting technical assistance from CDC subject matter experts on public health preparedness. In addition to tools and resources to support CDC’s 15 public health preparedness capabilities, On-TRAC now offers answers to frequently asked questions, enhanced search engine capacity, expanded peer-to-peer exchanges (with regional workspaces), and more than 400 new resources.
State, local, tribal, and territorial public health professionals must be registered to access On-TRAC. Instructions for existing SAMS (Secure Access Management System) account holders as well as how to request a SAMS account are included here: https://www.cdc.gov/cpr/readiness/on-trac.htm


Radiation Emergency Training, Education, and Tools

The POD to Community Reception Center (CRC) tool offers high-level summaries, action steps, and checklists for ten major topics for inclusion in CRC plans. These ten topics are: (1) lead agency and public health role, (2) registry and surveillance, (3) communications, (4) CRC sites, (5) stations, (6) staffing and training, (7) equipment and supplies, (8) demobilization, (9) behavioral health, and (10) access and functional needs. When using this tool, refer to your jurisdiction’s POD plans, Population Monitoring in Radiation Emergencies, and the resources listed to complete each checklist. State PFAS Readiness Plan Posted to MPART

DEPR announces the newest member to join the HPP Section: Jessica Gould.  She will join the staff on March 18, 2019. Jessica comes from the great state of Alaska. She has extensive experience on reporting to both the CDC/PHEP and ASPR/HPP Cooperative Agreements and developed the state of Alaska fatality management plan.
