BP1-17 LHD Work Plan Deliverable 4.1 - HVA

The ASPR HVA tool has still not been released and is not expected to be until an undetermined time later in the year. As a result, BP1-17 deliverable 4.1 has been suspended. Furthermore, completion and submission of an HVA will not be included as an activity in the BP1-S (2018-19) LHD work plan, per se. Note, however, when the tool does become available all LHDs will be asked to complete and submit their HVA within a reasonable timeframe. Additional information, training on the tool, and submission timeline will be provided when the ASPR tool is officially available. For questions contact Briana Barnes at BarnesB2@michigan.gov.

He has also worked in the environmental health and chronic disease divisions for a total of 15 years with the Bureau of Epidemiology and Population Health. BP1-17 LHD & Tribal EPC Annual Meeting

Reference materials for the LHD & Tribal EPC Annual Meeting being held at the Treetops Resort in Gaylord, MI on June 5 and 6, 2018 will be released in a separate email next week to give participants adequate time to review and prepare.

DEPR has developed a pre-meeting survey to collect initial feedback on broader program areas to be discussed. The survey is intended to provide all participants with a forum to help inform presenters of priorities and concerns prior to the meeting. The survey will remain open until COB on May 31, 2018.

Additionally, the meeting registration did not include a question regarding any special accommodations that may need to be made for attendees beyond dietary restrictions. Attendees should contact Mary Macqueen at MacqueenM@michigan.gov if there are any special accommodations that need to be made for the meeting.

Meeting - Improving Adult Immunization Rates: Beyond the Provider and Health Delivery System

On June 11, 2018 from 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM Central Time, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Regional Health Administrator, Region 5, and the National Vaccine Program Office is hosting a meeting to identify strategies to improve adult immunization rates in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, and tribal areas in Region 5. The meeting is being held in Chicago, IL. Meeting participants will:

  • Learn from national and regional experts how hepatitis A & B, influenza, and human papilloma virus (HPV) impact adults in the region
  • Share best practices with other state immunization and minority health leaders, and identify beneficial collaboration opportunities
  • Take action and plan effective strategies to improve adult immunization rates, with particular attention to each state’s vulnerable populations

Participants are welcome from immunization coalitions, LHDs, tribes, community/faith-based organizations, health providers, business and community stakeholders interested in the often-overlooked importance of adult immunizations. There is no cost to attend the meeting, but space is limited and registration is required. For questions, contact NAIPTeam@mayatech.com.
