What's going on Downtown?

Council Member Castañeda-López and Council President Pro-Tem Mary Sheffield co-sponsored a residential parking ordinance that will allow some neighborhoods to request parking permits for residential parking in areas that experience heavy commercial and non-residential parking demands.

Some details:

parking
  • The ordinance will require 60% of all residences to sign petitions in support of creating the residential parking permit zone. Once established, 50% of residents must sign up for the permit in order for the ordinance to become active.
  • Residents can apply for up to 3 passes and 30 visitor passes! Seniors and residents who receive property tax exemptions can qualify for discounts.
  • Click here to read more about the ordinance!

“As our city grows and changes we must put residents needs first. For the elderly, young families and those with different abilities being able to park close to their home is important. I look forward to working with residents to establish residential parking zones in their communities.”

- Councilmember Castañeda-López
