What's going on Downtown?

 Council Approvals 

  • Detroit Police Department received $800,000 through the Local Law Enforcement Crime Gun Intelligence Center Integration Initiative Grant to create a model of coordinated law enforcement to reduce violent crime and illegal use of firearms. 
  • Established a Secondary Street Name in honor of Gregg A. Booker at the Intersection of W. Grand Blvd. and Porter Avenue in front of Deliverance Center Outreach Ministries. 
  • Amended the Rental Property Ordinance to allow BSEED to accept certain inspections of one or two family dwellings by federal and other government agencies in place of certain City inspections.
  • Accepted park improvement donations at Scripps Park (a community bulletin board) and Dean Savage Memorial Park (playground equipment) from the Woodbridge NDC and the Corktown EDC, respectively. 

 Other Updates

  • The Public Health and Safety Standing Committee will discuss the Residential Parking Permit Ordinance at 2 Woodward Ave on Jan. 28 at 10AM. There will be a chance for general public comment. A date for a public hearing will be also established during this meeting. 
  • Review a list of ongoing list of road closures. 
  • Interested in having a tree outside of your home? Through the 10,000 UP! program, Detroit is planting 10,000 trees to improve your home and create healthier communities - for free!
