What's happening Downtown?

City Council approvals:

  • $440,000 to Wayne State University to launch a Leadership Academy at the Detroit Police Department, designed to build the educational background, skills and work experiences of officers.
  • Increased HUD funding for three affordable housing projects, including the rehabilitation of the Peterboro Arms, which will provide 56 units of permanent and affordable supportive housing.

  • Gordie Howe Bridge Public Meeting: Come learn from the Windsor Detroit Bridge Authority about activities underway as the Gordie Howe Bridge construction continues. Wednesday, April 18 | El Bosque, 6705 W Lafayette Blvd, 3-7pm. Open house format, come anytime.

  • The Fresh Wagon is back and better than ever! Every Saturday, the Fresh Wagon provides roundtrip bus service to Eastern Market, with one route in District 6. Join us anytime April 21st from 8-12 for the kick-off event at Piwok Park (12040 Visger St). The bus departs for Eastern Market at 9:54am.

  • Registration is now open for Motor City Makeover, which is coming to D6 on May 19th! Motor City Makeover is an annual citywide volunteer clean-up and beautification initiative.
