Detroit People Mover Closing
for Construction
The Detroit People
Mover (DPM) is closing for two weeks, starting on Sunday, June 12, for repairs
and construction. The system will resume its normal operating schedule at 6:30
a.m. on Monday, June 27.
Passengers who use the People Mover for non-emergency transportation
will be able to commute throughout downtown on Detroit Department of
Transportation (DDOT) bus lines that travel within the Central Business
District.
DDOT customer service operators are standing by at (313) 933-1300 or
toll-free (888) DDOT-BUS (336-8287) to direct you to the nearest bus line. The
customer service hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

600 Detroiters get help getting a
fresh start
The City of
Detroit Legal Department held its first quarterly Project Clean Slate
expungement fair on June 4. More than 600 Detroiters attended the fair to learn
about how to qualify for a record expungement. The move helps men and women who
have served their time get the fair shot they deserve in getting a job.
Attendees
also had access to the following resources:
- Help with application
preparation for record expungement.
- Help getting
connected with an attorney.
- Find information
about ex-offender jobs available.
- Find information
about Job Readiness programs and Workforce Development.
Fairs will
be held quarterly so stay tuned for upcoming events if you missed out.

City steps up
inspections of rental properties
The City is being proactive in helping landlords comply with
City ordinances and helping landlords to protect their investment. In this
effort, BSEED sponsored a landlord seminar Friday, June 10, to help landlords
learn about compliance with City ordinances, crime prevention, fire safety,
lead abatement and blight tickets. The seminar helped landlords learn how to
partner with the City to increase their investment and improve the quality of
life of Detroit residents.

Come to the
Property Tax Assistance Fair to meet with Treasure Department and Assessors
Department staff. Officials from Wayne County and foreclosure prevention

Department of Public Works today announced the following street closings:
- Westbound Cadillac SQ between Woodward and Bates will be
closed completely from now through Oct. 22, 2016 for street activities.
- Monroe from Brush to St Antoine will be closed completely
from now through Sep. 6, 2016 for a weekend festival (Friday to Sunday between
4 PM to 3 AM).
- Griswold from Michigan to Jefferson will be closed
completely on Jun. 12, 2016 (10AM to 1PM) for a parade.
- Jefferson Service Drive from Griswold to Washington will be
closed completely on Jun. 12, 2016 (12PM to 1:30PM) for a parade.
- Washington at Cobo Hall will be closed completely on Jun.
12, 2016 (12PM to 1:30PM) for a parade.
- Brush from Montcalm to Beacon will be closed completely on
Jun. 14, 2016 for a concert.
- Adams from Brush to John R will be closed completely on Jun.

Westbound lanes on Michigan Ave from Griswold to Shelby will
be closed completely from now through Sept. 2016 for building renovation. However, one lane in each direction for both
eastbound and westbound traffic will be open at all times, using the eastbound
lanes.

Jefferson, Larned, E. Grand River, Times Square, St. Anne,
and Lafayette will have intermittent traffic detours to perform fiber cable
work from now through June 15, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Congress from Woodward to Bates will have northern westbound
lane and sidewalk closed for building renovation from now through Sep. 31,
2016.

State St from Griswold to Shelby will have a partial closure
of the eastbound lane and sidewalk for building renovation from now through

partial northbound lane closure for building renovation from now through Nov.

lane and parking lane closed from now through June 2017 for building
