Industrial Hemp Updates

Site Modification Form Now Available

6.7.19

On April 19, 2019, the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) launched its Industrial Hemp Ag Pilot Program for the 2019 planting season. As anticipated, there has been a great deal of interest in participating in this program and applications continue to be received daily.

To date, 331 Grower Registrations and 223 Processor-Handler licenses have been issued with several applications still pending processing. Six hundred-fifteen (615) “growing locations” have been identified totaling over 25,000 acres. Industrial hemp farming is well on its way in Michigan!

As a reminder, growers wishing to alter the sites listed on their grower registration in 2019 are required to submit a Site Modification Request Form and pay the required fee. If you are considering adding acreage or square footage to your operations, please submit the attached form.  It will also be available on MDARD’s Industrial Hemp website at www.michigan.gov/industrialhemp.

If you know of others who are interested in receiving industrial hemp program updates, please direct them to www.michigan.gov/industrialhemp; there is an enrollment link near the top.
