From the Director's Desk
The Power of Prevention
Since 1982, the Michigan Children’s Trust Fund has been dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. We have worked to network, fund, advise and support prevention programming that are providing prevention services/programs in each of the 83 counties.
In 2021-2022, there has been a newly energized national commitment to focus on prevention. CTF has been working in cross-system collaboration efforts to plan, design and strengthen the prevention system in Michigan. In order to make this happen, we will work through our 100+ prevention partners that provide services in each county.
Over the next few months, you will hear more about several exciting projects that CTF is working on for the children and families that the prevention partners serve. I invite you to take a moment to check out some exciting upcoming dates as we plan to create several in-person events in April and May. We look forward to seeing you soon!
We wish you and yours a family and fun-filled Thanksgiving season,
Suzanne

https://www.thechildrenscenter.com/Please join CTF in welcoming our newest partner in prevention serving Wayne County: The Children's Center.
The Children’s Center is home to many specialized clinical services. They lead the way in working with children who struggle with behavioral, emotional, educational, intellectual and developmental challenges or may have experienced trauma.
The center focuses on treating the whole child, looking at more than a single issue to provide the best, most comprehensive integrated care. This includes examining barriers in the home, school and community, working with the family who raises them and the organizations that support them. The Children's Center is eager to increase their prevention efforts as a CTF program.

Safe Sleep Month
Each October, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services works collaboratively with families, communities, and institutional partners, to raise awareness of the important steps that parents, caregivers, childcare providers, and health professionals can take to reduce sleep-related infant deaths and disparities. Below are just a couple examples of CTF grantee programs that stepped up to raise awareness last month.

Our partners in prevention at The Oscoda Montmorency Children Protection Council put together 20 Safe Sleep Bags to be distributed throughout two counties! Each bag contains safe sleep sacks, fitted crib sheets, pacifiers, bowls, cups, plates, spoons, bibs, books, wipes, and a folder full of local resources and information on Safe Sleep. |
Nyse Holloman with Voices for Children Advocacy Center, CTF's local council representing Genesee & Shiawasee counties, recently appeared on ABC12 to talk about statistics for infant deaths in Michigan and raise awareness for Safe Sleep Month.

We're Listening
CTF has been hard at work gathering information and data from our prevention programs. Through several surveys, we've learned how to better support our partners that are preventing child abuse & neglect in Michigan. Our partners shared programmatic needs and expressed interest specific areas of support. Below are some highlights of the data collected over the last quarter:
Every dollar donated to the Children's Trust Fund is eligible to be multiplied by Federal funds!
