The Student Enrollment Counts Report in MI School Data has been updated for the 2023-24 school year. Overall headcount, which includes PreK, K-12 and 18-26-year-old special education services, decreased slightly to 1,429,895. K-12 headcount also declined slightly from fall 2022 to 1,373,686.
Use the Grades and Report Category dropdowns to explore data by race/ethnicity, gender, participation in some programs, and other student groups, which can help us start to see the deeper story behind the data. You can also select statewide or choose a specific location. For example, you can look up the student headcount for your local district and see how enrollment has changed over time.
Switch from Snapshot to Trend view to see long-term changes and trends. The graph below shows total headcount, which has been trending slightly downward for the past ten years.
