MI School Data News

There are different ways to measure how much students have learned over time.

The Student Growth Report uses state assessment test results for students who have taken two or more consecutive tests from year to year. The report looks at changes from one test to the next.

Growth is measured using the Student Growth Percentile. This means students are grouped with their academic peers based on performance on the previous test(s). SGP measures how well students improved compared with those peers. An SGP of 50 means a student demonstrated growth equal to or greater than 50% of their peer students with comparable score histories on that test.

The English Learner Student Growth Report uses a similar process to look at the improvement and growth of English learners based on their performance on two or more consecutive WIDA ACCESS for ELLs assessment tests, which measure proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing in English.

CEPI has updated both of these reports with data from the 2022-23 school year.
