Unified Development Code - Updated Edition Now Available

Thank you for subscribing to Planning Updates for the City of Ann Arbor. This message brings information about a new edition of the Unified Development Code, now available to download at www.a2gov.org/udc.
We are pleased to share that the 7th edition of the UDC - the Unified Development Code, Chapter 55 of the Code of the City of Ann Arbor - is now available to download at www.a2gov.org/udc. The 7th edition includes all approved amendments effective January 30, 2022 and earlier. Most notably, this edition contains new site plan review and approval procedures in Section 5.29.6.
The UDC divides the City into zoning districts and contains regulations for permitted uses in each district; development standards for construction, such as height limits and required setbacks, parking, landscaping/screening/buffering, storm water management, natural features, signs, outdoor lighting, and fences; and review, approval, variance and amendment procedures related to zoning and development.
About the Planning Commission and its Meetings:
The City Planning Commission is a group of nine volunteers appointed by the Mayor and City Council to make determinations and advise on matters relating to the development of the city, including making recommendations on rezonings and ordinance amendments, as well as making recommendations or approving development proposals depending on the type and scope of the proposal. The Planning Commission meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month to hold public hearings and carry out this work.
These meetings are typically broadcast live on Ann Arbor Community Television Network Comcast 16 / AT&T 99 and replayed the following Saturday at 8:00 PM. Recent meetings can also be streamed online from the CTN Video On Demand page of the City's website https://a2gov.org/watchctn. The Planning Commission also meets on the second Tuesday of each month in a working session and the Ordinance Revisions Committee of the Planning Commission meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month as needed.
