So many great things to do in the Ann Arbor parks

Public meeting Nov. 14 to discuss potential ballfield renovations
The City of Ann Arbor is pleased to announce that beginning in the spring of 2012 proposed renovations are scheduled to take place at several baseball/softball fields throughout the City. The fields that have been identified for renovation include Veterans Memorial Park, West Park, Southeast Area Park and Allmendinger Park. As part of the Parks & Recreation Open Space Plan that was completed in 2011, and through user feedback, it has been identified that several baseball and softball fields in the City of Ann Arbor are in need of improvement and renovation.

The renovation work on these fields will consist of infield leveling and grading, replacement of existing infield material with red clay product, turf restoration, repair/replacement of existing backstops and fencing, irrigation repair and concrete work for dugout and spectator areas. A public meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Slauson Middle School Cafeteria (1019 W. Washington, Ann Arbor) to share information regarding the proposed renovations. In conjunction with the City of Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor Rec & Ed staff will also be at the public meeting to discuss the scheduling implications that this may have on sport leagues during the planned renovations.

We also hope to gain feedback from program participants on scheduling and game location options they would like to see for the 2012 season. Details: Jeff Straw, Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Deputy Manager via e-mail at jstraw@a2gov.org or 734.794.6230 ext. 42501.
