Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will host an anti-terrorism training session for first responders on response to homemade explosives (HME), Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The course, entitled **"Homemade Explosives: Awareness, Recognition, and Response"** will be held in Florian Hall, 45 Commerce Drive, Augusta, Maine.
##Overview
Homemade Explosives (HME) course will provide first responders with the knowledge to recognize and report the presence of the HME's as well as the precursors and facilities where HME's are fabricated. The course includes instructions and training on Explosives Characteristics and Hazards, recognition of a wide variety of HME precursors, recognition of HME manufacturing and IED production, HME scene safety and security, and community awareness and education on HME's.
##Instructors:
Training is presented by New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech)/Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center (EMRTC), and the lead DHS National Domestic Preparedness Consortium partner for explosives and firearms, live explosives, and incendiary devices training.
##Cost:
All training and course materials are provided free of charge. Reimbursement for travel, lodging, and meals will not be provided.
