2023 Maine Moose Permit Lottery

Applications for the moose permit lottery will be accepted online only.

To apply online, go to mefishwildlife.com and fill out the online moose permit application.  There, you will be able to indicate several preferences, including which wildlife management districts (WMD) you are willing to accept a permit in, and if you would accept a permit in another WMD if your name is drawn and all of your top choices are filled.  You will also be able to select your preferred hunting season, whether or not you would accept an antlerless permit, and your choice of a sub-permittee.  You will also be asked if you want to apply for the Adaptive Unit Hunt (WMD 4A).

Applications must be completed by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on May 15, 2023.

The 2023 moose lottery permit drawing will take place Saturday, June 10, at Mill Park in Augusta.  To learn more about the one-day event featuring demonstrations, instruction, competitions, children’s activities, music, food vendors, merchandise, and more, click here.

Maine Unclaimed Property

Is the State holding property that belongs to you?

Each and every year, tens of millions of dollars go unclaimed by Maine residents.  These financial assets are turned over by thousands of national and local businesses and organizations. The Office of the Maine State Treasurer holds these assets, free of charge, until claimed by the owner or heir.  Please use the following Web site to search your name, your business, and the name of your friends and family.  If you have time, help spread the word about this free service!

It's been a busy few weeks at the State House. Here I am updating my colleagues on the Budget process.

About Unclaimed Property

The Maine State Treasurer manages Maine’s unclaimed property program.  Unclaimed property consists of money and other financial assets that are considered lost or abandoned when an owner cannot be located after a specified period of time of inactivity.  It includes items such as bank accounts, uncashed checks, life insurance policies, unpaid wages, stocks and dividends, refunds, and safe deposit box contents.  Unclaimed property does not include real estate, animals, or vehicles

Spring in Acadia National Park

Activities:  Walking, hiking, birdwatching, photography, nature preserves, and dining. Family-friendly. Region:  DownEast & Acadia

Acadia National Park is one of the top 10 most-visited national parks in the country, but if you visit in the springtime, you will still be on the early side and can avoid the summer busy season.  Enjoy the fresh spring air and revel in the benefits of the less-crowded offseason at attractions and restaurants.  You will want to bring extra layers with you to keep warm on the crisp mornings and cool evenings.  Also, make sure to check Acadia National Park Service’s Current Conditions Page—even when it seems warm and dry, high altitudes mean that ice may linger as you approach the summit.
