Representative Arata to serve on Taxation Committee
Arata’s appointment reflects growing influence on key legislative issues
STATEHOUSE – State Representative Amy Arata (R-New Gloucester) has been appointed to the 129th Maine Legislature’s Joint Standing Committees on Taxation. In addition to serving on the Appropriations Committee, she will have a voice on the committee that is responsible for State and local taxes; tax credits and exemptions, taxpayer relief programs, and other tax issues.
“Lower taxes have meant more income for Maine families, more jobs, higher wages and a stronger economy,” said Arata. “I oppose repeated attempts to raise taxes on home heating fuel, gasoline, and people working toward a better life. As a member of the Taxation Committee, I will help sound the alarm on any proposals that will interfere with the economic gains people have experienced from sound pro-growth, pro-family policies.”
House Republican Leader Kathleen Dillingham (R-Oxford) had this to say about her selection of Rep. Arata: “Amy is brilliant, critical thinker, very thoughtful in her considerations and actions,” said Leader Dillingham. “Her business experience, combined with her work on the Appropriations Committee, will go hand in hand with the work of the Taxation Committee.”
Arata, a business owner, represents District 65: New Gloucester and Poland (part). She also serves on the Appropriations and Government Oversight Committees.
