2026 - 2027 Adult Flu Vaccine:
Eligibility, Ordering and Required Flu Vaccine Estimate
As flu season approaches, the Maine Immunization Program (MIP) would like to share important information about eligibility, availability, and ordering for the 2026-2027 flu season.
ADULTS 19 – 64:
Eligibility for 2026 – 2027 Adult Flu Vaccine
For the 2026–2027 season, state-supplied flu vaccine is only available for adults ages 19-64 who are uninsured or underinsured.
Eligible patients include:
- Adults ages 19-64 who are uninsured
- Adults ages 19-64 who are underinsured
State-supplied flu vaccine is NOT available for:
- Adults ages 19 – 64 who are privately insured with flu vaccine coverage
- Adults age 65 and older
Provider Requirements:
Flu vaccine for uninsured and underinsured adults ages 19-64 will only be available to fully enrolled MIP provider sites.
If your practice previously participated in our program through prebooking for flu vaccine only, MIP will no longer be able to accommodate flu-only participation. To receive MIP flu vaccine for uninsured and underinsured adults, providers must fully participate in the program.
Next steps for providers:
Please email your estimated flu vaccine need for uninsured and underinsured adults ages 19-64 for the 2026-2027 season to ImmunizeME.DHHS@maine.gov by September 30, 2026. We will use these estimates to determine the amount of additional flu vaccine to secure in October through a second pre-book.
How ordering will work this season:
There is no cap on the number of doses you can order. However, providers should order a six-week supply of vaccine at a time and use any existing inventory before placing a new order. Flu vaccine ordering will stay open throughout the season, rather than being a one-time pre-book.
What to do now:
Please email your estimated total flu vaccine need for your uninsured and underinsured adults ages 19-64 for the 2026-2027 season to ImmunizeME.DHHS@maine.gov by September 30, 2026.
Please include:
- Provider Site Name
- Pin #
- Estimated number of doses needed for the season
- Contact name and email
Additional information will be sent out once the vaccine becomes available.
Thank you for all you do to ensure all Mainers are protected against vaccine-preventable diseases.
