The Maine Immunization Program reminds all primary and secondary vaccine coordinators that annual educational requirements must be completed by Friday, July 31.
Any trainings completed prior to July 1, 2026, will not count towards satisfying the requirement for this fiscal year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027).
For enrolled sites that do not have their education complete by Friday, July 31, 2026, will have ordering privileges suspended until both the primary and the back up vaccine coordinators education requirement is complete.
The educational training is available to be completed on the MIP website.
As August approaches, now is a great time to remind families to schedule any needed vaccinations before the start of the school year. School and childcare immunization requirements have not changed for the upcoming school year. Providers can reference the Maine School Vaccine Requirements Reference Guide when answering questions from families.
To support your back-to-school outreach, the Unity Consortium has launched its #VaccineSmart back-to-school campaign, featuring shareable graphics, sample posts, and other resources to encourage routine vaccination and informed conversations with families. When posting, consider using the hashtags #BackToSchool, #VaccineSmart, and #KnowYourVax.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM), an annual observance to highlight the importance of vaccines and the role they play in protecting people of all ages. Staying up to date on recommended vaccines helps prevent serious illnesses and keeps our communities healthy.
Health care providers play a key role as our most trusted source of health information. Join us in making NIAM a success by providing patient education and engaging with the community to protect public health through vaccination.
