MIP will be opening for Beyfortus (nirsevimab) for the 2025-2026 RSV season and introducing a, Enflonsia (clesrovimab) for infants and young children prior to the start of the fall respiratory season. Additional ordering details will be sent early next week.
All remaining nirsevimab products in Maine from the 2024-2025 season have expiration dates ending in 2025 or 2026. Any remaining inventory from last season should be stored at appropriate temperature and used first at the start of the 2025-2026 RSV season.
MIP does not anticipate a shortage of nirsevimab this season. We will follow the same allocation model as last year, prioritizing 50 mg dosesfor babies weighing less than 5 kg at all enrolled birthing hospitals in Maine to serve the most at-risk newborns.
Any remaining doses will be available to all VFC enrolled provider sites under a maximum ordering limit to ensure fair distribution statewide. 100 mg doses are for children greater than 5 kgs who are younger than 8 months, and high-risk infants under 19 months, as defined by the CDC. These will be available to all enrolled provider sites at a maximum quantity per order.
Ordering nirsevimabMUST be placed separate from other vaccine orders. Any orders for nirsevimab placed with other vaccines in ImmPact will be denied.
To prepare for the updated COVID-19 vaccine expected in late August or September, the last dates for submitting provider orders for the current Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines this season are:
Moderna - 8/25/2025
Pfizer - 8/8/2025
We have roughly 900 doses of COVID-19 vaccine currently in provider inventories across the state. To avoid wastage, please continue to vaccinate patients and transfer vaccine to MIP-enrolled providers in your area who may need it. Contact us if you need assistance transferring doses.
The Maine Immunization Program will be transitioning to a new Immunization Information System (IIS) to replace ImmPact in the coming year -- and we need your help to name it!
Although optional, we encourage you to include your name, organization and email so we can recognize the top three submitters. Top ideas will receive a prize and be recognized for their creativity in an upcoming newsletter!
