There will be a change in the shelf life of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for individuals aged 12 and older (NDC# 00069-2432-10) expected between mid-February and mid-March.
Typically, the shelf life for this direct ship vaccine upon delivery is over 12 weeks. However, during the specified period, Pfizer anticipates that the shelf life will be reduced to approximately 8 to 11 weeks. We recommend that you plan your orders accordingly to minimize vaccine waste.
Please note that this reduction in shelf life does not apply to other Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines.
Influenza cases in Maine have seen a significant increase recently. In the week ending February 8, 2025, the Maine CDC reported 1,900 new cases, bringing the seasons total to over 6,900. Hospitalizations have also risen, with 131 reported in the past week, nearly doubling the previous count. Flu severity is especially high in Hancock and Piscataquis counties.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) emphasizes the importance of vaccination for everyone aged six months and older. Preventative measures such as regular handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when experiencing flu-like symptoms are also recommended to reduce the spread.
