for use in children 6 through 17 Years

June 24, 2022

The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) has now authorized Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine to be used as an option for children ages 6 through 17 years, in addition to its already recommended use in children 6 months through 5 years and adults 18 years and older.

With this authorization it is important to highlight a few very important details as we move forward with this vaccine roll-out:

  • Vaccine vials specifically labeled for the age group 6 years through 11 years of age are not  available.
  • The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine vial labeled “BOOSTER DOSES ONLY” (aka Moderna 5) has been authorized to provide primary series doses (0.5 mL each) for individuals 6 through 11 years of age, AND as a booster dose for individuals 18 years of age and older*.
  • This presentation of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine is supplied as multiple-dose vials with dark blue caps and labels with a purple border [NDC 80777-275-05].
