Virtual Statewide (Recurring): Creating A Winning Resume presented by the Maine CareerCenters (Workshop)

Join us for a 90-minute virtual session on creating a winning resume, offered on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. After the workshop, you can schedule a virtual meeting with a CareerCenter consultant to review your new resume and receive additional support. This workshop will cover writing a dynamic resume, targeting your qualifications to match employer needs, and making a great first impression with your resume and cover letter.

Respiratory Therapy Training Program

Maine faces a significant lack of qualified respiratory therapists essential for the well-being of our northern rural communities. The Rural Northern Maine Respiratory program is designed to enhance healthcare in our area by effectively training and employing respiratory therapists across Aroostook, Hancock, Washington, Knox, Piscataquis, Penobscot, Somerset, Kennebec, and Waldo counties.

Highlights of the Rural Northern Maine Respiratory Therapy Training Program:

- This initiative is a partnership between Northern Light Health, Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC), and Northern Maine Community College.

- Funding for tuition, books, and fees is provided through a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration.

- Educational instruction for the program will be delivered by Kennebec Valley Community College.

- Participants will work part-time at a Northern Light facility while attending classes and earning full-time wages and benefits.

- Upon completion of the program, graduates will continue their employment at Northern Light Health for a designated period.

- Applicants must apply to both Kennebec Valley Community College and Northern Light Health, and acceptance is required from both institutions to participate.

- The application process opens in early spring, with the program starting in August.

Prosper Scholarship

Now Accepting Applications for 2025

ProsperityME is excited to announce that applications for the 2025 PROSPER Academic Scholarship Program are now open! Submissions will be accepted until March 31, 2025.

This two-year scholarship program supports asylum seekers in obtaining their associate degree by covering tuition and book expenses at any accredited community college or university in Maine. Additionally, students are matched with mentors to enhance their college experience.

If you’d prefer to access services and information in-person, we welcome you to visit a CareerCenter location near you.

Each of the centers across the state provides public computers with internet access, Microsoft Office, resume/cover letter writing software, and O*Net software for personal skills assessment. 

Employers can list their open positions on Maine JobLink and use our online system which matches jobs with candidates. All CareerCenter services are provided at no charge to employers and job seekers. Veterans and eligible spouses receive priority of service in all Department of Labor programs.
