The Maine Department of Labor has revised the proposed rules for the state's Paid Family and Medical Leave Program based on feedback from over 1,000 comments received from nearly 300 individuals. The updated rules are now open for public comment, with the opportunity to submit feedback via the Department's website link or by mail until September 30, 2024. Find out more information here.

Virtual Statewide (Recurring): Creating A Winning Resume presented by the Maine CareerCenters (Workshop)

Join us for a 90-minute virtual session on creating a winning resume, offered on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. After the workshop, you can schedule a virtual meeting with a CareerCenter consultant to review your new resume and receive additional support. This workshop will cover writing a dynamic resume, targeting your qualifications to match employer needs, and making a great first impression with your resume and cover letter.

Free English language classes for refugees, asylees, and parolees who are beginning English language learners.  Each session runs for 8 weeks and includes materials.  Four sites are currently secured for the upcoming sessions from September 3 to October 25. Download session information (PDF)

University of Southern Maine English Language Acquisition Study

The University of Southern Maine is seeking participants for a research project focusing on adult English language acquisition in Maine. The objective of the study is to pinpoint achievements, deficiencies, and potential areas for improvement in order to support adult multilingual English learners and the agencies that serve them throughout the state.  The study is open to individuals, organizations, or programs that offer English as a Second/Additional language learning opportunities to adults in Maine. Competitive Skills Scholarship Program (CSSP)

The Competitive Skills Scholarship Program (CSSP) is currently accepting applications.

The Competitive Skills Scholarship Program (CSSP) offers funding and support services to eligible Maine residents to pursue two- and four-year degree programs or employer-recognized credentials that lead to high-wage, in-demand jobs within Maine.

Each of the centers across the state provides public computers with internet access, Microsoft Office, resume/cover letter writing software, and O*Net software for personal skills assessment. 

Employers can list their open positions on Maine JobLink and use our online system which matches jobs with candidates. All CareerCenter services are provided at no charge to employers and job seekers. Veterans and eligible spouses receive priority of service in all Department of Labor programs.
