Unemployment Claimants Reminded of the Maine JobLink Requirement

Maine unemployment security law requires all individuals filing for Unemployment Insurance benefits to be registered with Maine JobLink. If you need to file for unemployment for the first time and you do not already have a Maine JobLink job seeker account, nor a Maine Job Bank job seeker account, we advise you to file your unemployment claim first at www.file4ui.com. Filing your initial unemployment claim first will also begin the creation of your job seeker account for Maine JobLink, which saves you time and effort.

If you do not have access to a computer, Maine CareerCenters and libraries have free use of computers with Internet access.

Credit Repair Class in Rockland on March 21

A harbor with lobster boats in Rockland, maine

Tuesday, March 21, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Rockland CareerCenter
91 Camden Street, Suite 201, Rockland, ME

A new workshop offered at Rockland CareerCenter aims at helping people for whom poor credit scores can get in the way of employment, finance and housing.

There is no cost to attend.

Participants will learn about the expanding significance of credit scores. There will be discussion of how to understand, analyze, repair, and build credit scores.

In the spirit of the SEC's warning on credit repair services, the class will also look at the risks of credit repair and debt management services, and empower individuals to manage their own credit, no matter how dire the circumstances may seem.

Participants will be given the tools to establish credit using both traditional and non-traditional means.

The free workshop will be conducted by Kevin Boggs of Bangor Savings Bank on a non-commercial basis. This is strictly intended to help job seekers understand how credit affects them, and what they can do to improve their situation.

People who want to attend this workshop are asked to register by calling the Rockland CareerCenter at 207-596-2600. Space is limited.
