Maine DEP, MRRA and MSW Consultants Announce Waste Characterization Study Webinar

AUGUSTA, September 9, 2026 — The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is partnering with the Maine Resource Recovery Association (MRRA) and MSW Consultants to provide a live webinar and Q&A session presenting the results of the recently completed statewide waste characterization study.  The study, commissioned by the DEP and funded entirely through the USEPA's Solid Waste Infrastructure for Recycling (SWIFR) grant program, provides a detailed analysis on the composition of Maine’s waste stream. The full study is available on the Department Reports webpage.

The webinar will take place on September 15th, 2026 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm and will include a robust review of the study data, methodology, and key findings.

The webinar will provide ample time for questions and discussion with the experts at MSW Consultants who conducted hands-on research and data analysis of Maine’s waste streams and authored the waste characterization study.

Register for the webinar at MRRA’s website: https://mrra.net/event/webinar-maines-waste-characterization-study/
