Legislative Updates
 The County Council adopted a $5.4 billion budget.
 What is the purpose of CB-014-2022?
To reduce unnecessary waste generated from single-use disposable items in the retail food industry;
Improve the health and safety of community members; and
Help keep our waterways clean and safe.
What are single-use foodware accessories?
Single-use items, including straws, utensils, condiment cups and packets, cup sleeves, splash sticks, stirrers, and napkins, provided with ready-to-eat food and designed to be used once and then discarded.

Community Public Transportation Updates
 The bus network envisioned under the draft proposal includes expanding the high frequency service network from 36 routes to approximately 100 routes that would operate every 20 minutes or less, regional 24-hour bus service, more routes operating seven days a week, and more direct connections to where customers want to go. The draft Visionary Network provides a long-term roadmap to create the bus network the region needs.

Happy Pride Month District 8!
Join us in District 8 at the National Harbor for the Prince George's County Inaugural Pride Walk Sunday, June 4th from10 AM- 3 PM.
H.O.P.E. is also currently seeking individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. Please submit or one or two individuals from your District for consideration. H.O.P.E. is particularly interested in advocates for affordable housing in our County. Please contact my office for further details.

In partnership with the International Franchising Association and the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce, the EDC will host a three-part information session series where participants will learn franchising 101 training, receive technical assistance from experienced professionals and network with franchising brands seeking to expand in Prince George’s County.
The festival is seeking groundbreaking and unique films to display for the 2023 festival. Filmmakers are encouraged to send works that show off their unique vision, creativity, and skillset. This is a great opportunity to present a fresh and innovative work that captures the minds of filmgoers everywhere.
Film submissions will be accepted until August 16, 2023. Selected filmmakers will be notified on September 1, 2023.

 Utility Relief Assistance Program offered from H.O.P.E. & Stone of Help CDC
Households that are at or below 80% AMI that have not received utility assistance from Prince George’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) are eligible for ONE-TIMEfinancial assistance payment per property address for past due electric, gas, or water bills up to $500. Applicants will need to contact H.O.P.E. for further details on how to apply for assistance.
