COUNTY COUNCIL ADOPTS FINAL RESOLUTION OF LEGISLATIVE YEAR 2022
 The Prince George’s County Council convened the final session for Legislative Year 2022 on Monday, October 31st. Council Resolution CR-123-2022, legislation approving the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) plan to acquire land for development of a Largo Headquarters to house departments and administrative offices of the Commission was adopted.
DISTRICT COUNCIL CONVENES FINAL SESSION OF LEGISLATIVE YEAR 2022 TO DISCUSS LAND USE MATTERS
The Prince George’s County Council, sitting as the District Council on zoning matters, convened its final hybrid session of Legislative Year 2022 on Monday, October 31st. The District Council session included one Item Pending Finality - Fox Club Apartments located in Council District 7. The District Council is granted authority to act on zoning matters by the State of Maryland Regional District Act, now in the Land Use Article of the Maryland Annotated Code. District Council sessions will resume in January 2023.

COUNCIL AMONG MARYLAND LEADERS ADVOCATING FOR PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY IN FBI HEADQUARTERS SELECTION PROCESS
 Prince George’s County Council Members joined County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, and the County’s federal and state partners for a joint press conference on Friday, November 4th, to advocate for Prince George’s County as the site selection process for the new FBI headquarters site continues. Two of the three final sites under consideration – Landover and the City of Greenbelt - are in Prince George’s County. Press conference speakers included County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer; U.S. Senator Ben Cardin; U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen; U.S. Congressman Anthony Brown; U.S. Congressman Kweisi Mfume; State Senator Malcolm Augustine; Prince George’s House Delegation Chair Nick Charles; and Council Member At-Large Mel Franklin. Also present – Council Vice Chair Sydney Harrison, and Council Members Dannielle Glaros, and Rodney Streeter. All speakers stressed that the site selection criteria used for the past decade, including access to transit, security, cost, environmental impact and equity considerations are achieved at both Prince George’s County sites.

The 2022 Maryland General Election is next Tuesday, November 8th! Election day polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Please see additional voter information updates from the Board of Elections below:
Returning your Ballot
 County voters are urged to return their ballots as soon as possible to avoid any potential delays with the U.S. Postal Service. Your ballot comes with a postage-paid return envelope, so submitting your ballot by mail is free. Your ballot must be postmarked on or before November 8th. Putting your ballot in a mailbox on Election Day will not guarantee a postmark that day.
You can also use a ballot drop box to return your mail-in ballot. Ballot drop boxes will be open until 8:00 p.m. on November 8 for the Maryland Gubernatorial General Election. CLICK HERE for Prince George’s County drop box locations.

The Work Group is charged with analyzing the County’s current recreation services and making recommendations to the County Council on how to best provide these services. COUNCIL MEMBER DANNIELLE GLAROS JOINS ANNOUNCEMENT FOR DISTRICT 3 REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
District 3 Council Member Dannielle Glaros joined County Executive Angela Alsobrooks and University of Maryland College Park President Darryll Pines to announce the development team selected to transform a County-owned parcel into the new Aviation Landing Project. The team is comprised of Terrapin Development Company, 4 Castles, Mosaic Development Partners, and the University of Maryland. The 2.6-acre site has been an unimproved parking lot for several years and this redevelopment serves as an opportunity to enliven the area with a first-rate, transit-oriented development project that will feature affordable housing, retail, an aerospace hub and much more!

COUNCIL CHAIR CALVIN S. HAWKINS AND VICE CHAIR SYDNEY HARRISON WELCOME WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL HORSE SHOW TO PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY
 Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II, and Vice-Chair Sydney Harrison joined equine competitors and enthusiasts from across the country, along with a crowd of proud Prince Georgians, in welcoming the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS) to Prince George’s County, through Sunday, October 30th. Held at Showplace Arena in Upper Marlboro, the WIHS is one of the most prestigious, competitive equestrian sporting events in North America. WIHS brings together the finest and most talented horses and riders from across the country and around the world for several days of top jumper, hunter and equitation competition, equestrian entertainment, and community and charity events.
COUNCIL CHAIR CALVIN HAWKINS HOSTS BREAST CANCER AWARENESS EVENT
 On Sunday, October 30th, Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II, hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness event, featuring cancer survivor testimonies, special presentation, discussion, giveaways and more. COUNCIL IN RECESS – GAVEL EXCHANGE SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 6TH
 The Council is now in Recess. Inauguration Day is Monday, December 5, 2022. The Council will convene on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. for the Exchange of the Gavel, when Council Members will elect the Council Chair and Council Vice-Chair for the new Legislative Year. This is the last regular edition of Council Connection for Legislative Year 2022. Regular issues will resume when the Council reconvenes in January 2023. Thank you!
