Special Primary Election for District 8 Council Member
The Special Primary Election is Tuesday, January 4, 2022 - Hours: 7 am-8 pm
Early Voting for the Special Primary Election will be conducted on
December 27-December 30, 2021 - Hours: 10 am-8pm each day
January 2, 2022 - Hours: 12pm-6pm
January 3, 2022 - Hours: 10am-8pm
Be sure to check your mailbox! Ballots are being mailed out to all eligible voters and should be arriving soon.
Ballots will be mailed to every eligible voter residing in County Council District 8. Ballots will be mailed including postage-paid return envelopes in mid-December 2021 prior to the Special Primary Election and in mid-January, 2022 for the Special General Election.
In-person voting will be offered at the Southern Regional Technology & Recreation Complex located at 7007 Bock Road, Fort Washington, MD 20744.
Ballot drop boxes will be available for voters to return their ballots at the following four locations:

TheBus, a public transit service operated by the Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPWT), will operate a Saturday service schedule on Friday, December 24, 2021; last trips at 4:00 p.m. to the end of the line. TheBus will not operate on Saturday, December 25, 2021. Regular COVID-operated service of TheBus will resume on Monday, December 27, 2021.
The County’s Call-A-Bus service, including the PGC Link and Orange Circulator, will not operate on Friday, December 24, or Saturday, December 25, 2021. Regular COVID-operations services will resume on Monday, December 27, 2021.
The Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement will be closed on Friday, December 24, 2021. Regular business hours will resume on Monday, December 27, 2021.
PGC311 will be closed on Friday, December 24, 2021, and will return to regular operations on Monday, December 27, 2021, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. However, residents can still submit service/issue requests online Click Here.
Process in Place to Fill District 8 Vacancy
The Prince George’s County Council, on Monday, November 15, 2021, adopted
CR-135-2021, declaring a vacancy on the County Council created by the November 8, 2021, resignation of District 8 Council Member Monique Anderson-Walker.
CR-135-2021 establishes dates for conducting the Special Primary Election and the Special Election to fill the Council vacancy and sets the Certification of Candidacy deadline.
Special Primary Election
The Special Primary Election has been scheduled for Tuesday, January 4, 2022, 7am-8pm.
Special Primary Election Early Voting will be conducted on December 27-December 30, 2021 and January 2-3, 2022, (10am-8pm each day and 12pm-6pm on Sunday, January 2, 2022).
Special General Election
The Special General Election will be held on Tuesday, February 1,2022, 7am-8pm.
Special General Election Early Voting will be conducted on January 26-January 31, 2022, (10am-8pm each day and 12pm-6pm on Sunday, January 30, 2022).
Certificate of Candidacy were filed with the Board of Elections before or by the deadline of Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
Pursuant to County Charter Section 309, a Special Election must be held to fill a vacancy on the Council, in this case, defined as the resignation of a Council Member, occurring within the first three years of a term. Section 2-104 of the County Code provides that when there is a vacancy in the office of a Council Member during the first three years of a term, the Council, within seven days, shall adopt a Resolution directing that a special primary election and a special election by the registered voters of the Council District concerned, be held to fill the vacancy.

Applications are currently being accepted for the vacant Board of Education District 8 position to fill a term that will run until December 2024. Residents of Board District 8 who are interested in being considered should submit a cover letter and resume to CountyExecutive@co.pg.md.us
District 8's Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs hosted a Vaccination Clinic on Sunday, December 19, 2021, providing vaccinations for 5 years and up.
In March 2021, District 8 and Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs partnered to provide vaccination clinics to our communities. Pastor Lincoln Burruss and the volunteers at Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs have been consistent, dedicated, and exemplary community service partners.

COVID-19 Update: All students moving to virtual learning (Dec. 20-23; Jan. 3-14); special education students attending nonpublic programs will continue to receive transportation services for in-person instruction.
