Today, 400,000 lives have been lost to Covid-19. These numbers are dreadful, along with the realization that almost half a million people have passed in less than one year. Our County Executive had a Press Conference today, sharing updates for Prince Georgians getting the vaccine. This issue will provide the information you need on getting the vaccine. |
County Executive Alsobrooks texted the following message regarding the vaccine distribution today.

The first day of the pandemic, March 16, 2020, we fed 6,500 people. I knew food was an essential need and made that a priority to provide to our constituents and in other areas. Thanks to our Constituent Services Director, Carla Cash, World Central Kitchen and so many dedicated partnerships, our food distributions sites continued daily throughout the 2020 year. I am happy to share that not only are we continuing our 2020 food distribution hubs, we have expanded with new sites to serve the need. Reference the schedule below to determine what sites will be beneficial to you or those you know. We Are All In This Together!

We had two days of service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Special Thanks to the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, who were present with us both days assisting us with our Coat and Food Distributions. Unfortunately, I was sick, so I could not participate but as always my D-8 team represented.

On Saturday, January 16th, we gave 100 bags and boxes of food to residents. We also had coats available for those in need.
On Monday, January 18th, we were busy.
- District 8’s volunteers assisted us in delivering coats to homeless and trauma centers, to seniors in our district and giving coats to homeless who are on the street.
- District 8 participated in County Council Chair Calvin Hawkins food distribution at First Baptist Church of Highland Park.
- District 8 then went to our collaborative food distribution effort with Maryland’s own and NBA Detroit Piston, Jerami Grant in District 5. We were delighted to volunteer with the Grant Family by providing the food that Jerami’s organization, Hour Generation, provided funding for.
- We wrapped up the day of service, with our partnership with Evolve, donating coats to their clothing drive at Tanger Outlets.
Service is what we do!
As mentioned in the news this week, the new variant of COVID-19 first identified in the UK has now been identified in Maryland.
Please Stay Safe with the Pandemic and the unrest going on in our region. Continue to Stay Safe, Wear Your Mask, Social Distanced and Stay Informed!
