Council Member Davis and Council Chair Turner Support Community Food Distribution on National Day of Service
On September 11, 2020, Prince George's County Council Member Derrick Leon Davis and Prince George's County Council Chair Todd M. Turner, in partnership with Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) and Catholic Charities DC joined forces to address the root causes of food insecurity and health disparities, with a Community Food Distribution.
Held on the National Day of Service, the event brought together residents of Prince George’s County and surrounding communities to provide food resources and education to individuals who currently lack healthy, convenient, and affordable options, including PGCC students and their families.

Economic challenges resulting from the coronavirus pandemic have exacerbated food disparities in the county, creating hardship for many area residents, including those who have underlying health conditions. The food distribution event, part of a larger initiative, is just one of the many ways that the College will partner with others to create a community in which basic needs are met for all residents.
