CONVENES DISTRICT COUNCIL MEETINGS; APPOINTMENTS AND LEGISLATION AGENDA ITEMS
FOR TUESDAY’S COUNTY COUNCIL SESSION
The
County Council, sitting as the District Council, met Monday, and reconvened
before Tuesday’s County Council to review several zoning matters. Tuesday’s County Council session considered
legislative items and approved the following appointments to the Historic
Preservation Commission for Prince George’s County: Aaron A. Marcavitch, Royal T. Reff, Nathania
A. Branch Miles, James Campbell, Dr. Lisa P. Davidson, Yolanda Muckle, Donna
Schneider, Susan H. Pruden, and John Peter Thompson. The Council is grateful for
the service of our residents who serve on County Boards and Commissions.

COUNCIL
COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE TACKLES SHORT-TERM RENTALS AND COUNCIL COMMITTEE
RESTRUCTURING ON MONDAY
The
Council met Monday afternoon as the Committee of the Whole to discuss CB-10-2018 and CB-11-2018, legislation
concerning short-term rentals in the County; CR-16-2018, a resolution to update the County-wide
Hazard Mitigation Plan; and CR-44-2018,
to amend the County Council Rules of Procedure. With the addition of two
at-large Council Members this December, the Council is reviewing the potential restructuring
of the Council committees. CR-44-2018 would establish the following Council
committee structure: Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment;
Government Operations and Fiscal Policy; Planning, Housing and Economic
Development; Health, Human Services and Public Safety; Education and Workforce
Development; and General Assembly.

WEDNESDAY’S
COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE AGENDA TAKES PUBLIC COMMENT ON PROPOSED ZONING ORDINANCE
REWRITE LEGISLATION
Wednesday
evening, the Council’s Committee of the Whole heard public comment on proposed
Zoning Ordinance Rewrite legislation.
Thanks to everyone who attended and provided comments. Please note that
the final Committee of Whole session on Zoning Ordinance Rewrite legislation
receiving public comment is scheduled for Tuesday,
July 17, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. in the Council Committee Meeting Room, Second Floor,

TRANSPORTATION,
HOUSING AND ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE CONSIDERS LEGISLATION
The
Transportation, Housing and Environment Committee met Thursday to consider
several legislative proposals focusing on noise control, animal welfare, and
roads and sidewalks.

PUBLIC SAFETY AND FISCAL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE RECOMMENDS REAPPOINTMENT OF COUNTY’S ETHICS AND ACCOUNTABILITY DIRECTOR
The
Public Safety and Fiscal Management Committee met Thursday afternoon to
consider legislation. The committee also voted favorably to recommend the
reappointment of Robin Barnes-Shell, Esq., to serve as the Director of the
Office of Ethics and Accountability for Prince George’s County.
