COUNCIL’S SUMMER INTERNS GET

TO WORK

Chair Glaros was pleased to offer remarks at the June 25th orientation session at Charles Flowers High School, for County youth participating in the Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program. This week, Districts 3, 4 and 9 welcomed the program’s young workers to their respective Council offices for the next five weeks. This program provides an opportunity for young people across the County to participate in career development, life skills training and summer employment opportunities. This year more than 3,000 youths between the ages of 15 and 19 are employed by government, non-profit and faith-based organizations, and businesses in the County. More than one-third of these students participated in job readiness and life skills training sessions during the school year through a partnership with Prince George’s Community College and Prince George’s County Public Schools.  To learn more about signing up for next year’s program, or becoming an employer partner, visit the Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program online.   This program was also featured in the first edition of Chair Glaros’s cable television show, “Council Connection, Together Strengthening Our Communities.”
