Prince George's County COVID-19 Vaccination Update
Dear Prince Georgians:
- Today I announced that, under the advice of County health officials, we will follow CDC recommendations that say those fully vaccinated against COVID-19 do not need to wear a mask when outdoors walking, running, hiking or biking, or in small gatherings with members of their household or other fully vaccinated people.
- Masks are still required in crowded outdoor venues like sports stadiums or outdoor concert venues. Unvaccinated residents are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated and continue wearing their masks outdoors until they are fully vaccinated. Masks are still required in all indoor venues and while on public transportation.
- All other COVID-19 safety guidelines and requirements remain in place at this time, including capacity restrictions for businesses, however additional information will come in the near future.
- I’m also happy to announce that those who live or work in the County no longer need to pre-register for an appointment through our County Health Department. Individuals can now schedule their own first-dose vaccine appointments at all vaccination clinics operated by the County Health Department by visiting mypgc.us/COVIDvaccine. Individuals who do not have Internet access can book vaccination appointments by calling 311 and pressing # for assistance.
- As a reminder, the County now has a vaccine clinic locator with an interactive map that allows users to search for clinics located in the County by using an address, a zip code, or a place name. To use the COVID-19 Vaccine Locator search tool, click here.
- In efforts to allow Prince Georgians easier access to COVID-19 vaccinations, a pilot walk-up vaccination clinic will open at the Sports and Learning Complex for a one-day event on Monday, May 3, 2021. Any Prince George’s County resident or worker may get a vaccination without an appointment. There will be 500 doses available, so vaccine will be administered on a first come-first served basis. Gates will open at 7:00 AM. The Sports and Learning Complex will resume its normal appointment schedule on Tuesday.
- The State is now offering drive-thru, no-appointment vaccinations at the Six Flags mass vaccination site, Monday - Sunday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Remember, you can also still pre-register with the State to obtain scheduled appointments at Six Flags by visiting covidvax.maryland.gov or calling 1-855-634-6829.
- Finally, the last day for Cedar Heights Community Center vaccine operations is today, April 30. Health Department staff at Cedar Heights will be used to fill personnel gaps at other vaccination sites and provide additional staffing for our mobile operations, allowing mobile units to be deployed more widely and more often.

- The County Health Department has provided over 128,000 vaccinations, with over 10,600 last week. We have already surpassed 6,600 vaccinations this week through April 29.
- Over 2,700 first doses and 3,900 second doses have been provided as of April 29.
- To date, the County has received 148,770 vaccines, and has administered 127,923 of those doses (approximately 86.0%). This metric (percentage of vaccine administered) changes day to day as new vaccine shipments come in and the number of second dose vaccines waiting to be given are administered in the days ahead.
- We are scheduled to receive 8,190 first doses next week.

 While the County Health Department currently operates five vaccination clinics in the County, in addition to three mobile vaccination units, there are a number of vaccination sites available in Prince George’s County that are not operated by the County. We encourage you to sign up at these other sites to increase your options to receive a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

- Residents who have already pre-registered with the State and live in nearby zip codes DO NOT need to pre-register again with the State to receive an appointment.

Six Flags America Theme Park & Other State Vaccination Sites (Not County-Operated)

Appointments: Visit covidvax.maryland.gov to register for appointments.
- Individuals can call the Maryland Department of Health COVID-19 Vaccination Support Center at 1-855-MD-GOVAX (1-855-634-6829) to schedule vaccine appointments at mass vaccination sites. The call center is open seven days a week from 7 AM to 10 PM. The Vaccination Support Center is specifically designed to assist older adults and residents without Internet access.
- Drive-ups Welcome:
- Drive-thru, no-appointment vaccinations are now offered at the Six Flags mass vaccination site, Monday - Sunday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Additional Non-County Operated Sites
- Please use our County Vaccine Locator to find additional vaccination sites operated by pharmacies, hospitals and other healthcare partners.
- As of April 29, over half a million vaccines have been provided to 338,453 County residents, with 222,420 residents fully vaccinated.
- 46.5% of residents ages 16 and over have received at least one vaccine dose.
- There are an estimated 728,050 residents ages 16 and older, the minimum age for vaccination.
- Our goal is to have 473,232 residents vaccinated by this summer, or 65% of this population and 80% by this fall.
- We are now at 71.5% of our summer goal. Last week we were at 65.5%.
