Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims

2020 World Day of Remembrance for Traffic Victims Lives Shatter on Impact Display at the Mall at Prince George's

To commemorate World Remembrance Day on November 15, 2020, Vision Zero Prince George's partnered with the Metropolitan Washington Council or Government’s (MWCOG) Street Smart Campaign to display a “Lives Shatter on Impact Testimonial Wall” at the Mall at Prince George’s. The audiovisual display features survivors as well as family members of victims as they recount their experiences and its impact on their lives. This collaborative effort brought greater awareness to the importance of pedestrian, bicyclist and motorist safety. The recorded testimonials can be found on MWCOG’s website at http://bestreetsmart.net/testimonials/

In addition to the display at the Mall at Prince George's, wreaths were placed at the sites of Vision Zero Prince George's Capital Improvement Projects throughout the County.

The State of Maryland also observed a day of remembrance on Monday, November 23, 2020. The 17th Annual Maryland Remembers Day honored those lost on the State's roads due to impaired driving. This year's event was held virtually and can be viewed here.

Roadway safety is a shared responsibility. Vision Zero is a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safe, healthy, and equitable mobility for all. Find more information about Vision Zero Prince George's and take the Vision Zero Safety Pledge at visionzeroprincegeorges.com.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!

2020 Thanksgiving

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this holiday season will look a little different. It is imperative that we all safeguard against the spread of the virus by taking extra precautions, which includes modifying your long-standing traditions. Instead of large in-person family gatherings, we encourage you to opt for a virtual celebration. Platforms like Zoom are lifting the 40-minute time limit on free meetings, making the service unlimited on Thanksgiving Day.

Public Transportation

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be modifications to "TheBus" and other services from November 26th though November 27th, 2020. For additional information, visit mypgc.us/thebus
