COUNCIL SESSION – PUBLIC HEARINGS ANNUAL ACTION PLAN HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT; WSSC BUDGET

The County Council met Tuesday, April 10, to consider legislation. The Council held a public hearing on CR-11-2018 and CR-12-2018, resolutions concerning the Fiscal Year 2018 Annual Action Plan for Housing and Community Development.  The Council also held a public hearing on the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) Proposed Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Operating and Capital Budgets, and the WSSC Capital Improvement Program for Water and Sewage for Fiscal Years 2019-2024.

COUNCIL’S PLANNING, ZONING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE HOLDS BUDGET WORK SESSION

The County Council’s Planning, Zoning and Economic Development (PZED) committee met Wednesday, April 11, to hold a work session on budgets for the Prince George’s County Conference and Visitors Bureau and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation.

COUNCIL’S TRANSPORTATION, HOUSING AND THE ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE CONSIDERS LEGISLATION; HOLDS WSSC BUDGET WORK SESSION 

The Council’s Transportation, Housing and the Environment (THE) committee met Thursday, April 12, to consider legislation and receive a briefing regarding the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) FY 2019 Budgets, Operating and CIP, from WSSC General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, Carla A. Reid and a team of WSSC officials.  The committee considers these budgets and makes a recommendation to the full Council in preparation for consideration by both the Prince George’s and Montgomery County Councils during a Bi-County budget meeting in May.

COUNCIL CELEBRATES INSTALLATION OF BOWIE STATE UNIVERSITY’S 10TH PRESIDENT, DR. AMINTA HAWKINS BREAUX  - “RACING TO EXCELLENCE”

The Prince George’s County Council celebrated the historic installation of Bowie State University’s 10th President, and its first female president, Dr. Aminta H. Breaux.  County Council Members attended the Installation Ceremony on Thursday, April 12.  Congratulations Dr. Breaux and Bowie State University!

4TH ANNUAL DISTRICT 3 TOWN HALL AND RESOURCE FAIR HELD APRIL 11

Chair Glaros held her 4th Annual Town Hall and Resource Fair on April 11. Representatives from County and State agencies were on hand to answer questions. During the formal program, Chair Glaros updated attendees on what’s happening across District 3 and the County, as well as the budget process.
