THIS WEEK WITH COUNTY COUNCIL

Zoning

For the past three years, the County Council, in partnership with the Planning Department, the business community, and our citizens, has been conducting a Comprehensive Rewrite of the County’s 50-year-old Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations.   When completed, the Zoning Rewrite will transform the outdated code into a more modern and user-friendly ordinance. This year, the Council is holding focused briefings on major topics. Watch Tuesday’s briefing HERE. Next week the Council will review the latest round of comments submitted by residents. The Council encourages all residents to engage in this important process.  Visit:  http://zoningpgc.pgplanning.com

County Council Vice Chair Todd Turner serves as the County representative to the Maryland Association of Counties (MACO).  He recently joined County officials from across the state to testify in favor of Senate Bill 151, which would restore the distribution of State Highway User Funds (HUR) to counties over a four-year period. State HUR funds to Prince George’s County decreased from $29.8M in 2008 to $2.9M in 2018, placing immense pressure on the County’s Capital Improvement Program and dramatically limits available funding for local road and sidewalk improvements.   (READ MORE)
