2016 PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY

COOLING CENTER LOCATIONS

25 Cooling Centers to help Residents Beat the Heat

Landover, MD – As we move into the summer season, Prince George’s County, along with the National Weather Service reminds residents that temperatures in excess of 90 degrees with extreme heat and humidity index conditions can be dangerous.  The Prince George’s County Office of Emergency Management in collaboration with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), encourages everyone to take precautionary measures to stay cool.  Residents in need of relief from the heat are encouraged to visit one of our designated recreational facility Cooling Centers. These neighborhood facilities have been identified in the North, South and Central parts of the County and are open to all County residents.  In addition, residents are encouraged to seek relief in other air-conditioned facilities such as theatres, shopping malls, grocery stores or libraries.

The following permanent Cooling Center Locations will be open to the General Public: Weekday Hours of Operation (10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.); During weekend hours, residents are encouraged to call the facility to confirm hours of operation.  All centers will offer a cooling area with seating anytime temperatures reach 90 degrees or higher.
