Dear Subscriber,

Seagirt Marine Terminal Saturday Gates

Over the course of the past several weeks, there have been several challenges that have contributed to historical production levels not being met at Seagirt Marine Terminal.  Ports America Chesapeake remains focused on improving production and providing consistency.  Several initiatives are currently underway to improve communication and transparency.  In addition, there is also a new commitment from management and labor to work together.

As many of you are aware, the vessel schedules have been challenging since the beginning of the year.  This has negatively impacted every major port facility up and down the east coast.  The lack of schedule integrity has caused vessel bunching and severe congestion.  This dynamic will impact Seagirt Marine Terminal over the next two weeks.  Import levels over the course of these two weeks will be equivalent to what is traditionally handled over three weeks.  Export and empty volumes will continue to be higher than normal over this time as well.

As a result, Seagirt Marine Terminal will be open the next two Saturdays in an effort to reduce terminal congestion.  We are committed to providing the necessary resources during this time.
