Cheers to opening your email on a Saturday!!!
While the view from your computer (or phone screen) may not be as enticing as this image - we hope that you spend today, National Rosé Day, doing the things you love. They say the "dog days" of summer don't officially start for a few weeks but you could have fooled us because the temperatures this week were no joke!
You may have already turned your air conditioning on and that's okay but please read through this email to find other ways to help you lower your energy costs this summer.
We may sound like a broken record but the first recommendation (as always) is to schedule your Quick Home Energy Checkup
A Quick Home Energy Check-up teaches you where you’re losing energy and how to start saving with smart energy management. In about an hour, a certified Energy Analyst will conduct a walk-through of your home to identify where you may be using excess energy, and may even install energy-saving products at no additional cost to you. Even if you have had one in the past, customers are eligible for a Quick Home Energy Check-up at the same address once every five (5) years. And not only that but you may be eligible for a Smart Thermostat - what are you waiting for? Before you do anything else, click on one of these links below and schedule your check-up today!
And don't forget that if you own your home and want a more comprehensive audit, schedule the Home Perfomanec with ENERGY STAR audit for $100 and it can unlock up to $7500 in rebates for energy saving measures in your home.
Speaking of check-ups, have you ever been waiting in a doctor's office with nothing to do? Make sure you bookmark these tips to keep your home cool this summer!
💨 Set your ceiling fans to rotate counterclockwise: In the summer, the fan blades should rotate counterclockwise (as you look up at it) to push the air straight down. Increase the fan speed on the hottest days.
🍳 Cook and clean at night: Large appliances give off significant amounts of heat. Wait to turn on your oven, range, dishwasher, and clothes washer until evening hours when temperatures are cooler. Also, remember that Maryland is a right to dry state so consider hanging laundry outside to dry. You’ll save the cost of running the clothes dryer while reducing heat and moisture in the house.
🕶 Close your shades: The summer sun delivers heat right through your windows. But you can block the heat with shades or blinds during the sunniest hours to keep your home cool. This is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to keep your home cool in summer.
💻 Check out Montgomery Energy Connection: There are suggestions for renters and homeowners.
