Bill Addressing Evictions Signed into County Law

Green Tip: Winter Salt Management; Recycling Christmas Trees
Tips from the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection.
Salting roads and sidewalks is a common way to reduce the slippery impacts of snow and ice. Do you know that a little salt goes a long way? Excess salt damages waterways, wildlife, and plants. Reduce the use of winter salt by shoveling right away, using 12 oz. for 10 sidewalk squares, sweeping it up, & reusing it. For videos and more tips, visit the Department of Environmental Protection's website on winter salt management.
Do you decorate your home with a live or artificial tree for the holidays? Live trees are recyclable! Be sure to remove all decorations and carefully check for metal or plastic before setting a tree out for recycling pick up by Montgomery County trash collection services. For artificial trees, call 311 or place an online request for a bulk trash pick up. Reusable artificial trees can also be donated. For tips specific by home type--from single family homes to apartments--visit the DEP website on recycling/disposing of Christmas trees.
