Well, well, well โ the darkness is upon us. Daylight savings ended this week which means the sun will be setting earlier and earlier (boo!) It also means that we will be turning on the lights earlier, adjusting the thermostat higher, and eating more soups. So, this November, we encourage you to say NO!!!
No to using fossil fuels, no to high electricity bills, and no to flavorless meals!
Why NO to fossil fuels?ย
,We probably all know this, but fossil fuels cause both local pollution and contribute to our changing climate. They are finite resources that will eventually run out and the extractive practices used to obtain them cause significant water and land pollution. Not only that but there are impacts to our air quality in our homes. Gas stoves release indoor air pollutants, including nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, and benzene, which can negatively affect respiratory health and are linked to asthma and other conditions.
Saying NO is as easy as participating in the Electrify MC program, signing up for a community solar project, or purchasing a countertop induction cooktop.
Say YES to Electrify MC
Although the federal tax credits expire on December 31, 2025 โ the county still have money to help you make the switch from fossil fuels in your home. Electrify MC simplifies the switch to electric energy for home heating, cooling and other systems. Elysian Energy, a trusted local expert, manages the program and offers guidance throughout the process. The chart below shows how much you get by making the switch and the good news is that these can be combined with utility incentives! What are you waiting for?
Sign up todayย and you will receive a phone call and email from the Electrify MC team to talk you through the process. Or, contact Electrify MC by phone at 301-830-5767 or email them atย electrifymc@elysianenergy.com.
 Say YES to Community Solar
If you havenโt yet subscribed to Community Solar, youโll want to keep reading!
Community Solar is a Maryland program that lets Maryland utility customers and Montgomery County residents help the environment while saving on electric bills. We can all benefit from Community Solar as a way of lowering the cost on our electric bills and supporting clean energy from local solar farms.
There are many companies out there and you can find out about them on the Montgomery Energy Connection website. ย One company, Ampion, will help you save up to 10% on your electric bills and provide you with a gift card to help you pay for your Quick Home Energy Checkup. But there are many other companies out there like Arcadia, Groundswell, and Neighborhood Sun.
And if you want additional information, EnergySage has a marketplace available for you to search projects and Solar United Neighbors provides unbiased information for residents.
Say YES to Cooking with Induction
If you participate in the ElectrifyMC program, you can make the switch to induction with the help of a $500 direct incentive โ how great is that? And, if you donโt want the hassle of installing a new appliance, there are portable options out there.
Oh, and once you have finished cooking that delicious, Fall inspired meal, be sure to put it in the dishwasher. And guess what, no need to rinse those plates after all!!!
