Tree Montgomery Celebrates 10 Years of Greening the County — Over 18,000 Shade Trees and Growing!

Montgomery County just hit a major milestone in its efforts to stay green and cool. On April 25 — Arbor Day — County Executive Marc Elrich and the County’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) celebrated the 10th anniversary of Tree Montgomery at the very spot where it all began: Round Hill Apartments in Chevy Chase.

Since 2015, the Tree Montgomery program has planted an impressive 18,400 shade trees across the county. That’s not just landscaping — it’s environmental impact! Click here to learn more.

Become a Summer Climate Intern!

Montgomery County, Maryland, is leading the way in local climate action. Through its Climate Action Plan and commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions 100% by 2035, the County is working to reduce emissions, build resilience, and promote environmental justice.

The Montgomery County Executive’s Office is seeking Summer Climate Interns to support this exciting work. Interns will gain hands-on experience in areas of policy research, program support, and communications and community outreach. This is a paid internship.

Study the range of native plants for managing water runoff and supporting pollinators and wildlife. Learn the steps to develop and submit a plan that qualifies for the RainScapes Rewards Rebate.
