Introducing Rewiring America's Personal Electrification Planner!

plan

RESIDENTIAL: Will it keep track of your dental appointments? No. Will it give you step-by-step instructions for your heat pump install? YES. If electrifying your whole home was a one-weekend job, everybody would be doing it. Every living situation is unique, which is why you need an electrification plan that fits YOUR life. Start your plan today. And don't forget that the County has the Electrify MC Pilot Program to help you electrify.

Renters Can Electrify Too!

renters

RESIDENTIAL: Electrifying everything for everyone means everyone, whether you own property or not. While some incentives are geared towards homeowners, there are still lots of ways for renters to go electric. Rewiring America has put together a ton of resources to help renters, here are some of the topics:

⚛️ Students Learn About Nuclear Energy

POWER

RESIDENTIAL: School was out on President’s Day, but the University of Maryland’s Radiation Facilities were open and welcoming MCPS high school students for a tour. After learning about fossil fuel alternatives including nuclear energy, students participating in the Peer Outreach With Energy Resources (P.O.W.E.R) program visited College Park to witness the brilliant blue glow of a nuclear core in action. While UMD’s nuclear reactor does not generate electricity, students learned about the reactor’s history, how it is used for scientific research, and how it is regulated to keep operators and visitors safe.

Resident Update on Solar and Other Things

lindas

RESIDENTIAL: In November 2021, a member of the County’s Climate, Energy and Air Quality Advisory Committee, Linda Silverman, wrote a blog post about her first year with solar. She’s BACK with an update to report not only on what’s it’s been like to have solar panels for three years but also how it’s felt. You can learn more in her updated blog.

🚗 Buying a New or New to You Car?

Incentives

RESIDENTIAL: Electric vehicles and hybrids surpass 16% of total 2023 U.S. light-duty vehicle sales. Rewiring America wants you to make "EV" the choice for your next ride. Electric vehicles have never been more affordable! We're using lots of exclamation points to show how excited we are!! Eligible households can claim up to $7,500 for new EVs and $4,000 for used EVs through tax credits from the Inflation Reduction Act. With those discounts, some EVs can be cheaper from day one! And the County has Dealership Incentives that you do not want to miss!
