Last week, I was proud to join with Council President Friesdon, Council colleagues, the County Executive and United Therapeutics in announcing a partnership for future growth and long-term vision for Downtown Silver Spring. The partnership includes a general development agreement between the County and United Therapeutics that will allow for the company’s future growth in Silver Spring and provide significant benefits to the County.
This partnership lays the foundation for the long-term vibrancy of Downtown Silver Spring and benefits our entire County. The growth of United Therapeutics will bring jobs and economic investment to our community, as they advance their life saving medicine. We are fortunate to have a trailblazing biotech company that changes lives worldwide and gives back to our community in Downtown Silver Spring. On the other side of the district, I am excited to welcome to North Bethesda the new world headquarters of Choice Hotels. Choice Hotels is one of the world's largest lodging franchisers and I’m proud to have them call District 4 home.
Thank you to Governor Wes Moore who joined myself, Council President Friedson and the County Executive along with Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Commerce Secretary Kevin Anderson, Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles, State Delegates Sara Love, Lily Qi, Sarah Wolek and Marc Korman, for the ribbon cutting and celebration.
