Electric

💰 Electrify MC

Electrify MC

RESIDENTIAL: Electrify MC is a pilot project created to help residents transition from fossil fuels (oil, gas, and propane) in their homes. Electrify MC will provide residents with a one-stop option to help them electrify their homes.

Elysian Energy, the competitively chosen contractor, will provide outreach and technical support about this project, staff the Help Desk, perform Home Performance with ENERGY STAR audits, provide recommendations for electrification add-ons, and do the direct installations using the financial incentives available through Electrify MC.

If you would like to reduce your monthly utility bills and are concerned about climate and health, it is time to start planning an all-electric home update. Thanks to the IRA savings calculator and Electrify MC can help get you even closer.

Want to learn more? Sign up today and if you are interested in Going Electric, Elysian Energy will contact you: http://bit.ly/ElectrifyMC

🏠 Electrify Your Home

Heat Pump

RESIDENTIAL: Heat pumps are an ideal, energy-efficient alternative to furnaces, boilers, and air conditioners. Efficient electric water heaters are also an option worth exploring.

🥘 Electrify Your Kitchen

kitchen

RESIDENTIAL: One of the ways you can reduce your home’s carbon footprint and help the County meet its climate goals is to switch to induction cooking in your kitchen. Compared to a traditional natural gas stove, induction cooking appliances are better for the environment, use less energy, are fast and efficient, and a safer alternative. Faster. Cleaner. Tastier. Induction stove-loving chef, Justin Lee, makes The New York Times Restaurant List 2023, in his new NJ location. In this video by Rewiring America, the chef explains why you should upgrade to an induction stove.

🚗 Electrify Your Ride

electric vehicle

RESIDENTIAL: Electric Vehicles are the future of transportation, providing drivers with an emissions-free form of transportation and the ability to charge at home or a public-charging station, instead of worrying about fluctuating prices at the gas pump. Right now, is a great time to buy an EV!

💲 Find savings from local Electrified Dealers on the EV Purchasing Co-op Dealership Incentive Page. Each month, dealerships update the deals and special offers they have available.

🍁 Electrify Your Lawn

leaf blower

RESIDENTIAL: 🎶 All the leaves are brown (All the leaves are brown) and the sky is gray (And the sky is gray) 🎶 and this means that the leaves are now all over our lawns and that is okay! Tree leaves are full of important nutrients for trees, lawns, and vegetables–we recommend you keep as many as you can on your property! Here are five ways to make leaves disappear quickly.

If you want to use a leaf blower or lawn mower, we hope that you make the switch to electric! Beyond the loud noises they generate; did you know that using a gas-powered leaf blower for an hour emits as much carbon monoxide as a car engine idling more than eight hours? Making the switch to electric leaf blowers is easy: they’re clean, emit less noise, and require less maintenance than gas-powered models.

📉 How to Lower your Gas and Electric Bills

lower bills

RESIDENTIAL: If you were not able to join the Office of People’s Counsel for their summer series trainings, you can find the 15-20- minute recordings on their YouTube channel. They are short, free, and packed with good information. To watch the previously recorded webinars, click on the links below.

📞 Calling Community Solar Subscribers!!!

calling

RESIDENTIAL: Do you currently subscribe to Community Solar? If so, we want to hear from you – please email us at energy@montgomerycountymd.gov if you are interested in being interviewed about your experience.

If you are not YET a subscriber to Community Solar, don’t miss out! Community, or shared, solar makes it possible for anyone with an electric bill to access solar energy, even if they can’t put it where they live.

Here are projects available to Montgomery County residents:

  • Paddington Square – Montgomery County Green Bank has its first project and this is the County’s first community solar project built to serve income qualifying households. Subscribers will play a critical role in shaping the future of energy in Maryland.
  • Oaks Landfill Community Solar Project – This is a groundbreaking project for Montgomery County and Maryland as a whole. This is the largest community solar farm in the country to reserve 100% of its power for income qualifying residents who receive their electricity via Pepco. This ensures residents who qualify to receive 25% savings on their electricity costs every month.
  • Ampion – There will soon be solar panels installed on the WMATA stations at the Naylor, Southern Ave, Cheverly, and Anacostia Metro stations. As a result, residents in Montgomery (Pepco service territory) can sign up for shares of the clean energy produced by these solar farms! If you’re looking to go greener, support local clean energy AND save on your electric bills.

💧 WSSC Water Offering New Payment Plans

Promise

RESIDENTIAL: WSSC Water has partnered with Promise to offer payment plans. This new financial assistance program allows residential and commercial customers with a past-due balance of $50 or more to establish a payment plan. By establishing a payment plan for past-due water and sewer bills and staying current with the plan, customers will avoid late fees and possible water service turnoffs.

🎉 Fun for the Family!

This Energy Action Month, we are challenging residents to Electrify Everything in your Home. By participating in the Energy Escape Room, you will complete tasks that will show you how easy it is to electrify items in your home. These changes will help lower your utility bill costs, keep money in your pocket, and help the County reach our climate goals.

At the end, you can choose three amazing energy saving items that will be mailed right to your door.
