⚠ BIG NEWS: Electrify MC is HERE!

Electrify MC is a pilot program to help single family homes replaces combustion appliances (fueled with natural gas, propane or oil) with all-electric versions, like like heat pumps and hot water heaters. Through this pilot, we will have a HELP DESK available via phone (301-830-5767) and email and we will provide point of sale grants for the installation of new equipment. Take the pledge now, Electrify MC Pledge, to receive program announcements and to be connected to the County’s selected electrification installer, Elysian Energy.

How Does Electrify MC Work?

Read more about our approach here. The typical path involves:

  1. Contact the Electrification Help Desk
  2. Schedule an energy audit
  3. Audit and electrification assessment are completed
  4. Choose among options to improve the performance of your home, including insulation and air sealing, and electrification of HVAC, water heater, stove and dryer
  5. Have work completed through Elysian Energy
  6. Receive applicable electrification rebates from the County at the point of sale, and utility rebates for insulation work in 6-8 weeks

  • Must replace an fossil-fueled equivalent and ENERY STAR listed

RESIDENTIAL: Solar panels provide access to a renewable source of energy: the sun. Your solar panels will generate electricity for you, meaning you are less dependent on energy companies and can save money on your electricity bills by using the energy you generate. Capital Area Solar Switch is a group buying program for solar panels and is open to anyone in Northern Virginia, DC and Montgomery, Frederick, and Prince George's counties. This program closes on August 30, 2023 so you want to make sure you sign up now!

LIBRARIES: This summer, P.O.W.E.R students have been working all together now to  help discover the fate of the library’s electricity all while learning about different energy sources, environmental justice, and how to conserve energy at home. There are still eight presentations scheduled between July 20 - August 1 at various libraries throughout the County, make sure you stop by to see if you can catch the culprits!
