The 2023 Energy Summit will focus on preparing the commercial building community for compliance with energy benchmarking, building energy performance standards and emerging building codes.
Day 1 on March 28 is geared to building owners and managers. DEP is offering free, hands-on benchmarking support, energy audit demos, and as one-on-one Q&A with utility incentive, Green Bank, permitting, and electric vehicle experts.
Day 2 on March 29 explores more in-depth education sessions and case studies and will include expert panels on local building energy requirements and local, state, and federal incentives.
Registration is $15 per day. Register today!
Calendar year 2022 energy benchmarking reports are due to DEP by June 1, 2023. The 2022 reporting link is now open and can be accessed on DEP's Benchmarking Webpage.
Many trainings are available for benchmarkers looking for guidance benchmarking and reporting 2022 energy use data:
We encourage you to start the benchmarking process as early as possible, especially if your building includes uses like EV charging or on-site solar. Please reach out to energy@montgomerycountymd.gov with questions.

Sandy Spring Meeting House has partnered with the Montgomery County Green Bank to install 31 kW of solar PV energy on the roof, which will produce 22 kWh of clean, renewable solar energy throughout the first twelve months of use. Over the next 20 years, the solar PV, which will be installed by Lumina Solar, will avoid the consumption of 735,025 kWh of energy not sourced from the local utility provider, mitigating 521 metric tons of carbon dioxide, greenhouse gas emissions.
The Commercial Solar Power Purchase Agreement (CSPPA) program allowed Sandy Spring Meeting House to install solar and experience the benefits of solar without upfront costs through a no-money-down rental agreement with Re-volv. Learn more about this project.
